This drink was inspired by a cocktail I recently had at an upscale bar in Los Angeles. It uses only a few ingredients but has a complex flavor, combining floral notes in rose syrup and vanilla notes in Liquor 43.
Rose syrup can be found in your local Indian store or ordered off Amazon.com. (Do not confuse it with Rose’s grenadine syrup. This one is rose flavored. Liquor 43 is a Spanish liquer available at most liquor stores.
Ingredients:
2 oz vodka
¾ oz lemon juice
½ oz Liquor 43
½ oz simple syrup
Tools:
Bar shaker
Hawthorne strainer
Fine mesh strainer
Coupe glass
Ice
Directions:
Combine ingredients in a shaker tin with ice and shake for 30-45 seconds. Double strain through a Hawthorne strainer and fine mesh strainer into a coupe glass.
If you want to get fancy, you can sugar the rim of the glass with vanilla sugar. To make vanilla sugar combine the innards of a vanilla bean with ¾ cup of sugar in a mason jar – stir to combine and store for several days to let the flavors infuse.
Enjoy!
